This Vermintide 2 Ironbreaker Build is designed to combine the Ironbreaker's supreme defenses and party support with some of Bardin's most versatile weapons. This creates a build that can handle most situations, deal great damage, solo bosses with ease, and protect and support your team.
Weapons
For our melee weapon, we're using the Dual Hammers. This weapon gives you good mobility, has high stagger against hordes which allows you to get lots of THP back, and has decent single-target damage against elites.
Important combos:
- Hordes - Spam LAs. This is enough to deal pretty good cleave damage and get a lot of THP due to the stagger.
- Elites/Bosses - Honestly, you should be using your Masterwork Pistol for these. Put if you're forced to go into melee for some reason, it's usually best to spam the first heavy attack. To do this, HA > tap block > repeat
- Movetech - Sometimes you need to run faster, either when speeding through a level with friends or kiting enemies in a tough situation. To do this, you can spam the first LA while running forward. Tap block very quickly to cancel it, so you keep doing the first light attack. The faster you can animation cancel the light attack and redo it, the faster you'll move. You should basically be rapidly alternating between LMB and RMB, unless you reassigned the attack buttons.
Alternative Weapon Option - You can use the Coghammer instead if you want (same properties and trait). This has even higher stagger and excellent single-target damage, allowing you to one-shot Stormvermin with an overhead heavy attack. However, it has lower mobility and less stamina.
For our ranged weapon, we're using the Trollhammer Torpedo, an essential part of this build. This is effectively a grenade launcher that can wipe out groups of enemies in one shot. Its shots will stagger everything, including monsters. Hitting a boss will stagger them and knock them back. The stagger lasts just about long enough for you to reload the gun, so you can solo bosses like this if you have full ammo. Also note that your bomb trait on your Trinket (in our case, Shrapnel) applies to shots fired from your Trollhammer. This means that all of your shots apply the Shrapnel debuff to all enemies who get hit, causing them to take 20% more damage from all attacks (buffing your party's damage).
Talents
- Rock-Breaker - Gives you THP back when you stagger enemies. You can easily refill your health bar by fighting a horde with either the Dual Hammers or the Coghammer.
- Blood of Grimnir - Nearby allies increase your power by 5% each, increasing your melee and ranged damage.
- Enhanced Power - This gives you a flat buff to your power, increasing all damage output. We chose Enhanced Power because it gives the most reliable buff to the Trollhammer Torpedo. Change it to Smiter if you're using the Coghammer, or to Bulwark if you want to provide an extra buff to your team.
- Gromril Curse - When your Gromril Armour is removed, all nearby enemies are knocked back. This can save you from Assassins and Packrats by knocking them back after they grab you. Try not to become too dependent on this.
- Miner's Rhythm - Your Stamina regenerates faster for 2 seconds after landing a heavy attack. Change to Dawi Defiance if you're a beginner. The Rolling Mountain is better if you're not blocking/pushing often.
- Drengbarazi Oath - Bardin's ultimate also causes nearby enemies to take 20% more damage for 10 seconds. This adds a second Shrapnel effect. When pulling a group of powerful elites, spearhead your team's attack by applying your ultimate and then firing your Trolhammer Torpedo, increasing the damage done by you and all of your allies by 40%
