Guide

This Vermintide 2 Foot Knight Build is a full support build. This means it does not have good damage output on its own, it is intended to put as much effort as possible into making things easier for your whole party. This build is intended for Cataclysm difficulty only. You can use it on lower difficulties, but it really isn't needed there and you'll probably feel like you're not bringing anything to the table.

With that preamble out of the way, let's look at what we are using.

Weapons

For the melee weapon, we're using the Sword and Shield*. This weapon has extremely good stagger power, which is further boosted by the Foot Knight's Talents. Please note that in terms of damaging enemies, this is probably the worst weapon in the game. This build deliberately sacrifices damage output to become a staggering machine.

Note the following important combos:

  • Stagger spam: HA > Push > Repeat (This can stagger everything up to Chaos Warriors. Watch out for Chaos Warriors in their overhead attack animation, though. They have extremely high stagger resistance and you'll have to use your Ultimate to interrupt them. It is usually better to just avoid those attacks).
  • Against Hordes: Spam LA. Not much else we can do. Use the Stagger Spam instead if you need THP.
  • Against Elites and Bosses: Usually you are just doing the Stagger Spam so your team can deal with them easily. If you must deal damage yourself, presumably because your teammates died, repeat PA > HA and try to hit the head. But you should seriously consider whether or not you'd be better off going for the revive/rescue. DPS with this build is slow and cumbersome, you can do it but it's a last resort.

The ranged weapon is the Handgun, which is used for sniping specials. Hit headshots to do more damage and get your ammo back. You can switch to the Repeater Handgun if you want something more versatile, but the damage per shot is lower.

**You can use the Bretonnian Sword and Shield instead of the basic one, if you prefer. It just has different attack combos. Use whichever one you are most comfortable with.

Talents

  • Back off, Ugly! - We have a ridiculous amount of stagger power with this build, so this talent can give you an equally insane amount of THP. In a dense horde, one heavy attack can refill your entire health bar. This means the only way you can die on this build is by being grabbed by a special or being one-shotted by a concealed overhead from a CW/SV.
  • Staggering Force - Boosts your Stagger Power by 35%. This is essential, you might not be able to stagger Chaos Warriors if you change this.
  • Bulwark - Enemies that you stagger take 10% more damage from melee attacks for 2 seconds. This applies to your teammates' attacks, too.
  • Rock of the Reikland - Grants your whole party 20% Block Cost Reduction, in addition to the basic 15% Damage Reduction Aura that the Foot Knight already gives. This makes it considerably easier for everyone to stay alive.
  • Inspiring Blow - Staggering an Elite doubles all allies' Ultimate Cooldown for 0.5 seconds. You should be chaining your Stagger combo almost constantly in high-pressure situations, so this and Bulwark should be active almost all the time when it matters most.
  • Battering Ram - Your Valiant Charge can now knock over Chaos Warriors and keep going after that. This can be really helpful and can stop a group of Chaos Warriors from unleashing a gauntlet of overhead attacks on your party. Just be careful that you don't isolate yourself and get surrounded.
